IDS terms and conditions
Acceptance of Terms:
By enrolling in courses, scheduling driving lessons, or using our website, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
Eligibility Requirements
Youth aged 14 - 17 can start driver training, but must be at least 15 to apply for a learner license.
Completion of a state approved driver education program
Parent/Guardian consent
Valid Identification
Classroom Instruction
Complete 24 hours of classroom instruction | 14 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction with school and 30 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction with Parent
Attendance 4 (2 hour sessions a week) for 3 weeks (24 hours classroom instruction). 14 hours of Behind the Wheel driving must be completed within a 4 week period beginning the first week of class. Behind the Wheel portion with parents must be completed within one year of the start date of the drivers training program.

Makeup classes must be arranged in advance with the school. No more than 1 absence during this period - however the absence can and must be made up within a 3 week period. Students unable to complete all 24 hours of completion can opt to enroll in the following months class
Online VS In-Class policies - Students are still required to complete 24 hours of online instruction, 14 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction and 30 hours of Behind the Wheel instruction with a parent. This does not include the road test that will be administered by the school or DPS to receive a license to drive
Behind the Wheel Training
Students are responsible for completing the 14 hours of drive times scheduled with the driving instructor. Any cancellations/makeup times must be mde 24 hours in advance to allow an ample amount of time to schedule another student in an open slot that becomes available. It is highly encouraged to keep your drive times at it can be becomes difficult to make up the time due to school and parent schedules.
Safety requirements - students must let the instructors know of health issues that may impact the driving experience e.g., prescrption glasses must be worn at all times when driving, any presribed medication that may impact the driving experience e.g., a prescrition that may make the student sleepy. Student must wear closed shoes e.g., tennis shoes (no flip flops or crocks). Alls students must wear their seat belts as it is a National Law and it saves lives. At no time will students be allowed to play music in the car, be on thier cell phones or talking with thier car mate. All vehicles are inspected by the state and meet safety requirements.
Students must follow all instructor directions and operate the vehicle safely at all times. Instructors may immediately terminate a lesson if unsafe, unlawful, or disruptive behavior occurs.
Vehicle Limitations / Accessibility
Our classroom instruction is available to all students. At this time, our training vehicles are standard vehicles and are not equipped with adaptive driving equipment or specialized mobility modifications. Students needing accommodations are encouraged to contact us before enrollment to discuss available options.
Payment Terms
Cash, Credit Card, or Cashier Check
Payment Terms - To apply and reserve a seat for next month’s class or a future session, a $200.00 deposit is required. This deposit will secure your spot, with the remaining balance due on the first day of the second week of class. We will accept applications up until 1 week prior to the next start date as long as students can schedule an appointment with DPS to obtain a driving permit by the 3rd day of class.
If you need to cancel your son’s or daughter’s reserved seat, please refer to our Refunds and Cancellations policy. All refunds are subject to a nonrefundable administrative fee of $100.00.
If you choose to enroll in a future class instead of canceling, the $200.00 deposit may be applied to another session. Please note that this credit is valid for 90 days (3 months) from the original payment date.
There are no installment plans. There are no late fees as the class must be paid in full by the 3rd day of class. There are no returned check fees as we do not accept personal checks.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
1. GENERAL POLICY
This refund policy applies to all students enrolled in the Teen Driver Education Program. Refunds are issued in accordance with Texas state guidelines and school policies.
2. CANCELLATION BEFORE COURSE START
Students who cancel enrollment before the first day of class are entitled to a full refund of all tuition paid, minus a registration/processing fee of $100.00.
3. WITHDRAWAL AFTER COURSE BEGINS
If a student withdraws after the course has started, refunds will be issued as follows:
Before 25% of course completion:
Refund of tuition minus registration fee and cost of completed instruction.After 25% but before 50% completion:
Partial refund may be issued based on the portion of the course not completed.After 50% completion:
No refund will be issued.
4. BEHIND-THE-WHEEL INSTRUCTION
Refunds for behind-the-wheel (driving) lessons will be:
Issued only for unused lessons
No refund for lessons already completed
Missed lessons without proper notice may be non-refundable
5. COURSE MATERIALS
Fees for books, online access, or materials are non-refundable once issued or accessed.
6. SCHOOL CANCELLATION
If the school cancels a course, the student is entitled to:
A full refund OR
The option to transfer to another class without penalty
7. REFUND PROCESS
Refund requests must be submitted in writing
Refunds will be processed within 30 days of approval
Refunds will be issued using the original payment method when possible
8. TRANSFERS
Students may request to transfer to another class session. Fees may apply.
9. COMPLIANCE
This policy is intended to comply with applicable rules set by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). In case of conflict, state regulations will prevail.
Scheduling Policies
Rescheduling can only be arranged with classroom instructor for classroom instruction and driving with driving instructor. However, only 1 absence and make-up is allowed and only 2 absences and make-ups are allowed and subject to driving instructor availability
Adverse weather will always be considered first when dealing with cancellations. IDS will never make mandatory a class or driving session when there are dangerous driving conditions - This of course includes adverse school closings due to weather
Student Conduct
State and IDS prohibited behavior:
Harrassment
Threats
Impairment/drugs/alcohol
Phone use during instruction - During a break or an emergency issue is acceptable
Liability Waiver /Assumption of Risk
Driving involves inherent risks - See Liability Waiver (application). IDS is insured and bonded
Student must follow all rules and instructions to stay incompliance
IDS is not liable for events beyond reasonable control
